quick_start takes no arguments and returns the GitHits usage guide. It covers tool selection, target syntax, output formats, citations, and handling untrusted content. It does not query indexed content or change external state.
When agents call it
Call it once per session unless the guide is already loaded. The currentgithits-mcp skill includes the stable guide. Other tools remain callable without quick_start.
Availability
quick_start is included in the default @githits/mcp inventory and local stdio server. Hosted availability depends on the deployed server version.
The stable guide includes resolve_target and code_diff. Enabling local experimental tools adds research instructions.
There is no CLI counterpart. Use npx githits@latest --help or the CLI reference.
